Big blow to Pakistani team before ODI World Cup, doubts over bowler Naseem playing World Cup

Colombo . Pakistan has suffered a big blow before the ODI World Cup, there is a possibility of their fast bowler Naseem Shah being out of the World Cup. Scans on fast bowler Naseem revealed a right shoulder injury, which is more serious than initially feared.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not told how serious is Naseem’s injury. The bowler underwent a scan in Dubai due to a muscle injury under his right shoulder, which he suffered while bowling against India on Monday. He was out of the field in the middle of his over and was subsequently ruled out of the competition. Pakistan’s other bowler Haris Rauf also did not bowl after five overs due to side strain and Pakistan rested him against Sri Lanka as a precaution before the World Cup.

Naseem can be considered to remain out of the field for a long time. Doubts are also being raised about his place in the team for the Test series in Australia at the end of the year and he may also miss playing in the Pakistan Super League in 2024.

Six weeks after his return another shoulder injury in the County Championship ruled him out of the team for a month.
